USAF tower 0714 recorded a 37-knot wind gust out of the west as thunderstorms moved over the intracoastal.

The wider storm

A moist and unstable air mass produced early afternoon thunderstorms that resulted in strong wind gusts along the Space and Treasure Coasts. A paddleboarder offshore South Hutchinson Island in St. Lucie County was impacted by winds and likely drowned. Nearby, in Martin County, two paddleboarders were pushed seaward by the strong winds, but returned to shore with assistance and were not injured.
