Strong winds blew over or snapped several wooden electrical poles on the north part of Ocracoke Island. Power was knocked out for several hours across Ocracoke Island.

Wider weather episode

Numerous thunderstorms developed over eastern North Carolina during the afternoon of July 11th 2015 as low pressure moved east along a stalled front. One of the storms became severe producing damaging winds over parts of Ocracoke Island.
