An upper level ridge dominated over the SE with a surface ridge axis south of the forecast area with a mean layer SW flow in place. A weak surface trough was over south Georgia, and this feature combined with the sea breezes over an unstable and moist airmass produced scattered severe storms during the afternoon and evening.
