The ASOS at the Vero Beach Airport recorded a peak wind gust of 40 knots as a thunderstorm moved over the airfield.
Wider weather episode
An outflow boundary from an earlier Mesoscale Convective Complex gave an early start to convection across east central Florida. Thunderstorms intensified as they approached the east coast and produced strong wind gusts as they moved offshore Brevard and Indian River Counties.
