Media reported a 43-year-old female postal worker died when gusty thunderstorm winds blew a large tree down on her vehicle on Norman Ct.

Wider weather episode

Scattered thunderstorms developed over Upstate South Carolina during mid-afternoon and organized into clusters as they moved into the North Carolina Piedmont during late afternoon and evening. These clusters produced strong to severe wind gusts across the southern Piedmont. A falling tree resulted in a fatality near Denver in Lincoln County.
