The Weatherflow site on the Folly Beach pier measured a 37 knot wind gust from a passing thunderstorm.
Wider weather episode
A line of strong thunderstorms developed inland in the afternoon and moved in from the west in the evening. These thunderstorms produced strong wind gusts along the South Carolina coast and in the Charleston Harbor.
