The South Tybee Weatherflow site measured a 40 knot wind gust with a passing thunderstorm. A peak wind gust of 47 knots was measured a few minutes later.
Wider weather episode
A broken line of thunderstorms developed in the afternoon hours just to the south of a nearly stationary cold front and weak area of low pressure. These thunderstorms moved through coastal areas along the southeast Georgia coast.
