The Weatherflow site at the Folly Beach pier measured a 36 knot wind gust with a passing thunderstorm.

The wider storm

Strong thunderstorms developed in the afternoon hours within a very unstable environment and a sharp surface trough. These thunderstorms pushed toward the coast and produced very strong wind gusts along area beaches and the adjacent coastal waters.
