Wind gusts of 61 to 63 mph were recorded at the Naval Air Station in Fallon. The highest wind gust was recorded at at 1505PST.
Wider weather episode
Persistent moderate to high atmospheric moisture combined with daytime heating to produce thunderstorms (many with heavy rainfall) early in the month. Periods of slow-moving thunderstorms combined with the heavy rain to bring flash flooding to western Nevada. One of the top flash flooding events in the past 25 years affected Douglas County (Johnson Lane area) on the 8th and 9th.
