Event narrative

High Temperatures were in the upper 90s to low 100s July 1 through July 5th in the South Willamette Valley which is around 15 degrees higher than the seasonal normal. The daily high temperature at Eugene broke the previous daily high temperature records for three consecutive days. There is one known indirect fatality where a man drowned while floating down the Willamette River near Bowman Park in Albany.

Wider weather episode

A strong upper ridge over the region resulted in hot weather for the Willamette Valley where temperatures peaked 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit above the seasonal normal.
