High Temperatures were in the upper 90s to around 105 for the Southern Willamette Valley. The daily maximum temperature of 105 degrees at Eugene broke the previous record of 99 last set in 2003. Local newspapers reported 3 separate incidents where children were left in hot cars in the Eugene area.
Wider weather episode
A strong upper level ridge resulted in excessively warm temperatures the last week in July where the high temperatures were 15 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit above the seasonal normal.
