High Temperatures were in the upper 90s to around 105 for the central Willamette Valley. Emergency Preparedness officials opened cooling shelters. A few people were treated for heat related illnesses at medical centers.

Wider weather episode

A strong upper level ridge resulted in excessively warm temperatures the last week in July where the high temperatures were 15 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit above the seasonal normal.
