A 500 mb low/inverted trough over northeast Mexico extended into the Rio Grande Valley, and brought abundant low to mid-level moisture across the western Gulf of Mexico. Cluster of shower and thunderstorms over the lower Texas gulf waters moved north northwest across the waters early in the day.
