USAF wind tower 0714 within the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge recorded a gust of 41 knots from the northwest as a strong thunderstorm passed by. The tower then recorded a 44 knot gust five minutes later.
Wider weather episode
An isolated thunderstorm produced wind gusts over 34 knots as it moved southeast from the mainland coast, across the intracoastal river to Cape Canaveral.
