Event narrative

USAF wind tower 0421 recorded a peak gust of 43 knots as a cluster of strong thunderstorms lifted northward along the Brevard County coastline. Ten minutes later, a gust to 38 knots occurred nearby at wind tower 0019.

Wider weather episode

Isolated showers moved north over the Atlantic during the morning and afternoon. Numerous reports were received of multiple waterspouts and funnel clouds offshore of St. Lucie County. Later in the afternoon, a large cluster of thunderstorms moved offshore coast of Brevard County and produced wind gusts well over 34 knots.
