Hail to the size of quarters accumulated several inches deep near Mount Taylor.

Wider weather episode

The persistent upper level low pressure system to the west of New Mexico produced another round of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over Cibola County. One particularly intense storm that developed to the northeast of Grants produced abundant amounts of severe hail along the south slope of Mount Taylor. Local emergency response personnel reported several inches of hail up to the size of quarters. No significant damage occurred.
