The tide gage at Fernandina Beach measured at water level of 5.18 ft above NAVD88 datum. Minor coastal flooding typically begins at 4.8 ft.
Wider weather episode
A full moon on Oct. 27th produced higher than normal astronomical tides and combined with moderate onshore flow created minor coastal flooding and beach erosion around the times of high tide. Water level departures along the St. Johns River basin were up to 1.5 ft above predicted levels and up to 0.75 ft above predictions along the Atlantic coast.
