Event narrative

Heavy rain caused flooding along Highway 12 in Ocracoke. Flood waters were over 2 feet deep in spots and the road was closed.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure south of eastern North Carolina combined with high pressure to the north to produce a prolonged period of moderate to strong onshore winds September 25th through 27th 2014. The strong winds produced some coastal flooding over the region, locally heavy rain also led to some freshwater flooding.
