A wind gust of 43 knots was measured at a University of South Florida COMPS station in northwest Florida Bay.
Wider weather episode
A westward-moving tropical wave produced several rounds of showers and thunderstorms with gale-force wind gusts. The strongest wind gusts initially reached the Upper Florida Keys coastal waters late evening on September 14th and the early morning hours of the 15th, then spread throughout the Lower Florida Keys coastal waters during the afternoon of the 15th.
