Event narrative

A mature waterspout with a spray ring was observed by a charter vessel captain over the open Florida Straits about 14 miles south of Key West.

Wider weather episode

While scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms were developing north of the Lower Florida Keys, an isolated waterspout was observed well south of Key West in association with more isolated rain shower activity.
