Event narrative

Many parts of the Fort King George historical site was flooded including nature trails, parking lots, docks and some exhibitions. Many shrimp docks were also flooded around Darien, GA.

Wider weather episode

A combination of persistent and strong east/northeast winds, the perigean spring tide and a full moon produced 2 days of elevated high tide cycles along the southeast Georgia coast. Major coastal flood stage levels were recorded at the Fort Pulaski, GA (FPKG1) tide gauge on Oct 27, 2015, which claimed 3rd place on the all-time historic crest list. Moderate coastal flood stage levels were also recorded at the Fort Pulaski, GA (FPKG1) tide gauge on Oct 28, 2015, which claimed 9th place on the all-time historic crest list.
