Event narrative

Waves as high as 10 feet resulted in significant damage to the State Park Pier in Gulf Shores with multiple panels on the pier popping up and buckling due to the rough seas and surf. The lighting and waterlines were also damaged.

Wider weather episode

The remnants of Hurricane Patricia and an upper level storm system resulted in the development of a strong non tropical low over the northwest Gulf of Mexico. The low produced a long duration of strong southerly winds, which produced minor coastal flooding a high surf along portions of the Alabama coast.
