Event narrative

Six to 10 inches of snow fell in the Upper Snake Highlands on the 21st with 10 inches reported on Ashton Hill and 7 inches in Island Park. Winds were very strong causing limited visiblity and horrible driving conditions. Several slideoffs occurred in the Island Park including one semi on its side. Idaho Highway 32 was closed due to the conditions in between Ashton and Tetonia.

Wider weather episode

A powerful winter storm brought snow and wind to the mountains with 5 to 10 inches of snow and many road closuures and accidents. Thunderstorms also accompanied the cold front with the storm with strong winds through the Snake River Plain as well along the front.
