Event narrative

The Cowlitz River flooded near Castle Rock and Kelso. The heavy rain caused a large land slide in Woodland that closed I-5 overnight.

Wider weather episode

A moist front produced heavy rain across Southwest Washington closely following two other moist fronts on December 7th and December 8th. The heavy rain resulted in additional flooding and land slides across the region.
