Event narrative

A quarter to a half of an inch of ice was observed on top of a couple of inches of snow or sleet in the Western Columbia River Gorge. This ice resulted in school closures, slick roads, and power outages.

Wider weather episode

East winds through the Columbia River Gorge maintained below freezing temperatures for the gorge and surrounding areas as a precipitating front moved over the region. There was a mix of snow, sleet, ice, and freezing rain in these areas.
