A North Wilkesboro man suffered fatal injuries in a two vehicle collision on the night of January 20th. Ice along Rock Creek Road in the Hays Community of Wilkes County was noted as a contributor to the accident. Additional accidents were reported throughout the county on both January 20th/21st which were attributed to poor road conditions due to ice and snow.

A fast moving clipper system brought light snowfall accumulations across portions of the region during the overnight hours on January 20th/21st. Snowfall accumulations ranging between a trace to 4 inches were reported across portions of northwest North Carolina, resulting in multiple vehicle crashes with reported injuries and fatalities.
