Temperatures fell to or below freezing for several hours during the morning of January 29th. The COOP site in Armstrong reported a low of 25 degrees.

Wider weather episode

Cold overnight temperatures continued in the wake of a cold front on January 26th. Clear skies, light northwesterly winds, and lowering dewpoints, combined to provide an excellent setup for radiational cooling. A short duration freeze occurred across Zapata, Kenedy, and Starr counties. Temperatures across these counties dropped to or below freezing for several hours during the early morning hours of January 29th.
