AWOS at Mustang Island platform measured gusts to 55 knots.

A strong upper level disturbance moved through the Hill Country on the 16th. Thunderstorms formed along a warm front near the coast late in the morning through early afternoon. Wind gusts to 40 knots occurred near the Mid-Coast. An area of low pressure deepened over the northwest Gulf of Mexico during the afternoon. High winds occurred over the offshore waters with wind gusts to 55 knots.
