Heavy rain overnight November 30th into the morning of December 1st produced local flooding in Chignik.
Wider weather episode
An intense Bering Sea storm with its associated front into the north Pacific produced heavy rain along the Alaska Peninsula. The combination of the heavy rain and a high tide resulted in excess water flow from Chignik Lake becoming dammed in the mouth of the river and flooding along the road into town.
