Newsday reported that a 27-year-old East Hampton man was killed when he lost control of his 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer because of icy road conditions and hit a bus head-on at the intersection of Montauk Highway and Windmill Lane in Water Mill, police said.

High pressure and sub freezing temperatures led to the development of black ice on roads across southeast New York during the night and early morning hours of Thursday January 7th and Friday January 8th.
