A cold front in southern New York moved slowly south across the coastal waters during the late afternoon and evening hours on the 26th, producing thunderstorms with gusty winds, small hail, and heavy rain. A thunderstorm wind gust of 42 knots was measured at Harvey Cedars at 1635EST.
