A cold front in southern New York moved slowly south across the coastal waters during the late afternoon and evening hours on the 26th, producing thunderstorms with gusty winds, small hail, and heavy rain. A thunderstorm wind gust of 34 knots was measured at Long Beach Island at 1640EST.
