Event narrative

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office received a distress call at 130 pm CDT. A waterspout capsized a 34 foot oyster boat in Bay Junop. Two fishermen were rescued. The time of the event was estimated by radar.

Wider weather episode

A slow moving cold front moved into a very unstable airmass over Louisiana, Mississippi and the northern Gulf of Mexico. Strong to severe thunderstorms developed in advance of the front during the day. At least one waterspout was reported, as well as hail and strong winds.
