The path drawn at its surveyed width of 10 yards (0.01 mi) — zoom in and the swath grows to true scale. Other tornadoes recorded nearby that day are shown faint.

What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The EF-0 tornado touched down briefly at a grocery store at 2200 Brownsboro Road. It blew out windows in the grocery and in a dry cleaners located in the same structure. A shopping cart corral was blown into a car, and a large power pole was blown down.

The wider storm

A cold front with strong upper level support collided with a very moist air mass over the lower Ohio Valley. The result was a widespread outbreak of severe thunderstorms, and six confirmed tornadoes. The storms produced property damage, downed trees and power lines, and large hail.

Began near Highlands (38.2581, -85.7044).
