A cold upper level system in combination with a stationary boundary across the Florida peninsula led to widespread afternoon thunderstorms across much of South Florida. A severe thunderstorm watch was put in place during the afternoon and evening hours along the east coast as storms interacted with the east coast seabreeze and increased in intensity.
