Event narrative
The lightning caused Wildcat Fire burned around 1,500 acres on the eastern slopes of the Kaibab Plateau. Strong southwest winds pushed the fire northeastward and away from Highway 67. This highway is the only paved road that provides access to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This fire caused the closure of several trails in the area.

The lightning caused Wildcat Fire burned around 1,500 acres on the east side of the Kaibab Plateau (which contains the North Rim of the Grand Canyon) between June 13 and June 22.
