Very dry conditions continued through the first week of June for all of Niihau and parts of Kauai, Lanai, and the Big Island, where the D2 level (severe drought) in the Drought Monitor persisted. However, enough rain fell in these areas in May and early June for improvement to the D1 level of moderate drought.
