Strong winds blew down a tree near Ponzer.

The combination of an inland moving sea breeze, a cold front approaching from the north, and very unstable air led to scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon of July 19th 2016 across eastern North Carolina. A few of the storms became severe producing damaging winds and large hail.
