Event narrative

Several wind gusts exceeding 60 mph were reported at a mesonet site at Crowheart. This included a maximum gust of 66 mph at 1339MST.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moved across Wyoming and produced locally strong to severe thunderstorms along its leading edge. One severe thunderstorm developed over Idaho and dropped up to one inch diameter hail over portions of the Star Valley. Strong winds developed as the front swept east of the Continental Divide. Crowheart had several wind gusts over 60 mph, including a maximum of 66 mph.
