Mesonet site at Marco Island Beach Resort (MRSCL) recorded a wind gust to 40 knots/46 mph. An earlier gust to 36 knots/42 mph was recorded at 602 pm EST.
Wider weather episode
A unstable pattern aided by a dissipating frontal boundary across Central Florida, led to widespread storms across South Florida during the afternoon hours. The strongest storms were across the interior portions of the region, with many moving offshore the Gulf coast leading to several strong wind gusts near the Collier County coast.
