A northeast swell caused by former Hurricane Celia generated surf of 6 to 12 feet along the east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and the Big Island of Hawaii. The initial surge of energy produced rough conditions at Oahu's Makapuu Tidepools on the 16th, which resulted in the death of a father and daughter. There were no reports of serious property damage.
