Wider weather episode
A low pressure system tracking from the Great Lakes into New England dragged a cold front through the Mid-Atlantic during the evening hours. Ahead of the front, with the region in the warm sector, the combination of moisture and warm air advection produced moderate levels of instability. This with deep layer shear of 25-35 knots was conducive for the development of thunderstorms.
