Buoy 45023 near the north entrance of the Portage Canal measured a peak thunderstorm wind gust to 47 mph.

The wider storm

A warm front lifting across the region produced strong thunderstorms over portions of western Lake Superior during the day of the 25th. A cold front moving through later that night brought a few strong thunderstorms to the west half of Lake Superior.
