The GLOS observing site at Portage Canal measured a peak thunderstorm wind gust of 41 mph.
Wider weather episode
A warm front lifting across the region produced strong thunderstorms over portions of western Lake Superior during the day of the 25th. A cold front moving through later that night brought a few strong thunderstorms to the west half of Lake Superior.
