Wider weather episode

The extratropical remnant low pressure of former Hurricane Noel moved northeast well offshore of the Carolina coast on November 2nd. Although the center of the low remained well off the coast, strong winds and moderate coastal flooding occurred across eastern North Carolina. Wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph were reported along the coast from Cape Lookout north. Water level rises of 3 to 4 feet above normal produced coastal flooding along the northern Outer Banks, as well as the southern Pamlico Sound. Overall the coastal flooding resulted in damages estimated around 70,000 dollars on the Outer Banks.
