Event narrative

There was public report of estimated one inch diameter hail west of Indian Lake. The observer arrived onsite around 30 minutes after the hail had fallen and found nickel-sized hail covering the ground at the time.

Wider weather episode

A low pressure trough moving through a moist and unstable air mass produced isolated severe thunderstorms over portions of central Upper Michigan, including a weak tornado near Newberry.
