Event narrative

Around 1130 pm EST on December 10, 2007, a tractor trailer struck and killed a bike rider along Highway 301, approximately 8 miles south of Statesboro, Georgia. The cause of the accident was likely due to extremely dense fog impairing the driver of the tractor trailer's ability to see the bike rider.

Wider weather episode

The combination of light winds, clear skies, and plenty of low level moisture, resulted in widespread dense fog across southeast Georgia.
