The Gogebic County Sheriff reported large trees in excess of a foot in diameter downed across Lake Road near Upper Powers Road.

A warm and humid air mass in place combined a low pressure system approaching from the Northern Plains set the stage for strong to severe thunderstorms over the west half of Lake Superior from the evening of the 11th into the early morning of the 12th.
