Broadcast media relayed a photograph received from a viewer of a waterspout several miles offshore taken from Anna Maria Island. A second funnel is visible nearby, but does not appear to be reaching the surface.

Wider weather episode

Weak flow and low level moisture allowed for isolated showers to linger over the eastern Gulf of Mexico during the early morning hours. One of these showers produced a waterspout.
