A trained spotter reported flash flooding in Independence. The gravel road at the high school complex was washed out and the parking lot was under several inches of water.

A disturbance interacting with a frontal system produced an area of severe thunderstorms with numerous damaging winds, some flash flooding and a few isolated, brief tornadoes.
